The course law lays a pod-race circuit on the land from the world's word: a slot canyon, the Needles, a plateau and its drop, and a kicker over a gorge. Five pods, four races (the Classic, the Sprint, Last Pod Standing, the Time Trial), seven in the field; any word lays a new track.
▶ Go therepodrace-1-grid The grid of the Emberline at 17:18: seven pods in rows of two under the start gantry, in a cutting through the Walsh Mesas at twice their height. The course law lays the track flat across and blends it into the land over thirty-six cells, so where the mesas stand the track runs in a canyon of its own.▶ Go therepodrace-2-pack Three seconds after the go, in the Twin-ram pod at Legend level: the pack on the start straight at 240 km/h, every pod's energy binder arcing between its engines, the sand plume behind, and the first gate (two pylons thirteen high with a lit bar) down the straight.▶ Go therepodrace-3-slot The slot canyon in the Needle pod at 364 km/h on the nitro: the track narrows to sixteen between walls seventy blocks high, and the chase camera comes in close so a wall never stands between it and the pod. A wall slows a pod that touches it; head-on above 88 a second it wrecks.▶ Go therepodrace-4-needles The Needles on the plateau, in the Drifter pod: pillars forty-four blocks tall standing in the track on alternate sides, placed by the world's word; the rivals weave nine metres past each one.▶ Go therepodrace-5-jump Over the gorge in the Tri-engine pod: the kicker lifts the track nine blocks over seventy cells, and a pod leaving it fast flies on the kit's podAir (it falls at 28 m/s²) across a gorge fifty-four long cut down to the water's edge. Too slow and it drops in, and is set back on the far side.▶ Go therepodrace-6-drop The drop off the plateau toward the setting sun: the climb and the drop are the floor's profile along the lap, and the mesas of the Walsh law stand all round.▶ Go therepodrace-7-glasswind-heron The Glasswind Run with the word heron: the same course law on the Ruler Dunes, ten kilometres round, wider, with a longer kicker; the word draws its own circuit, so any word on the link gives a new track and the same word the same one. The Sprint: one lap, every tank of nitro full.
