The corridor bake

The jet at three times speed over the Skyway at the same moment, with the corridor bake on and off: with it on, the ground under and ahead of the craft is full-resolution chunks and the far tiles on the flight line are drawn finer.

The hypersonic jet at x3 on the Skyway, six seconds into a westward run at 420 cells a second. The chunk scheduler reads the craft's heading and bakes a corridor 1024 cells ahead first, so 12 of the chunks under and just ahead of the jet are full near chunks, and the far tiles in the cone are sampled at half the step (36 fine, 122 coarse), with skirts where fine meets coarse.

The same run, same moment, with the corridor off (?corridor=off): the ring bakes out by distance in every direction and the jet outruns it, 9 chunks ahead and the ground under the nose is the coarse far tiles.
